HOW TO KEEP A CHECK ON YOUR DENTAL HEALTH THIS DIWALI 2020?
HAPPY DIWALI…..2020
This year Diwali brings a ray of hope and optimism. The enthusiasm is back in the markets. People are out buying gifts and sweets. The markets are swarming with mouth-watering delicacies. It’s time to meet your family and friends. “Diwali hai to meetha bhi hoga hi”.
The continuous sugar intake if unchecked can spoil the fun and fervour.
We at Aruma dental clinic and implant clinic want to extend our heartiest greeting to all of you. This festive season we want to give you a few tips for a bright smile.
- Brush regularly: With too many things happening, we forget our brushing routine. It’s very important to brush twice a day. Always gargle after the intake of sweet and sticky food. It’s better to wash away the sugar coating that forms on your teeth and avoid the chances of decay. Use floss once a day to take out any remnant food stuck between two teeth.
- Keep yourself hydrated: One mantra to follow is to drink a lot of water. This would help you flush the accumulated toxins. You would even neutralize the acid formation that happens with snacks and sweetened drinks.Drinking water before and after sweets can be really beneficial and will prevent the sticking of sweets to the tooth surface. This will also improve the quality of saliva and save you from conditions like dry mouth.
- Limit sugar intake: Regulate your sugar intake. Also, restrict your caffeine and junk indulgence. Please try to restrict sweets or desserts during meal times. The most harmful sinners are in-between sweets & chocolates because the sugar is stagnant in the mouth for a prolonged period allowing pH drop and active bacterial decay.
- Go healthy: Substitute the unhealthy aerated and canned drinks with fresh juices and fruits. Include more fiber. Choose to eat healthy this festival.Replace your sweets with fruits and vegetables. Fresh fruit juices will increases the liquid intake and helps in cleansing of teeth.Including vitamin rich food in your diet like carrot, salads and green leafy vegetables especially during this Covid pandemic helps us to boost our immunity and prevent dental problems.
- Tongue cleaning: Sweets and Fried food items tend to form a layer of debris on tongue surface. This layer of debris is usually white colored coat on tongue. With time it may turn green or yellow due to Microbial action. This may lead to throat infections, Bad Smell from Mouth (Halitosis) and alteration in Taste.
- Visit your dentist: We advise all our patients to get cleaning of teeth done at least once in every 6 months from a professional dentist. In case you have a dental emergency, do not hesitate to consult us. Do not take any medication without any consultation.Consult your dentist once the festive season is over for a thorough check-up, cleaning and polishing of your teeth to reduce the harm caused as far as possible.
“Our team wishes you a happy Diwali and a prosperous new year”
